OBJECT - OBJECT
This experimental design project explores the relationship between space and objects, focusing on the ways in which objects contain, accommodate, and interact with one another. At its core is the idea of the containing object as a spatial framework, where its form informs and guides the materiality, shape, and colour of the object it holds.
The project investigates the meaning of containment and how the relationship between objects can express broader ideas of space, hierarchy, and coexistence. It explores how objects can complement one another in harmony, establish a hierarchy, or challenge their established roles through a change in form and material.
The project centres on two familiar objects: a candle and a candleholder. Traditionally distinct in function and hierarchy, they are reimagined as a unified form through the use of a single material. By merging the two objects into one, the conventional distinction between container and contained is blurred, merging their individual identities and inviting a new interpretation of their relationship.
